Faith Basketball 1-22-2010

31 Jan

I headed out to Faith Christian School last week and took some shots during the guys and girls varsity basketball games. I refuse to believe that I looked that young at that age. Anyway, I didn’t use any lights and my shots came out a little dark. I was concerned that I might blind the players, so I left my speedlights at home. If I go back again I think I’ll set up light in the corners and bounce them off the ceiling. I think things will drastically improve if I do that. I used my Nikon 70-200 2.8 for all of these.

Northridge…

31 Jan

Jared Reeder asked me to take a few shots of the band from church last Sunday. The stage lighting gave some interesting results. It was dark so I used my Nikon 70-200 at 2.8 the entire time. I should’ve tried out my 50 1.4 since it’s faster, but I didn’t want to get in anyone’s way.

Birthday Cookie

31 Jan

For my 10th birthday I asked my mom to make me a huge chocolate chip cookie, instead of the normal birthday cake. This thing was enormous. She made regular sized cookies for the rest of the family, but that huge cookie was all mine. Or so I thought. I started working that cookie down and got half of it eaten in a day or so. I went back for some more only to find the remaining half completely gone. My brother, Jason, had eaten the rest of my cookie the night before while I slept.

I bring up this story just about every year and remind Jason of the awful thing that he did 20 years ago. Well, I’m gonna have to let it go now. Over Christmas Jason redeemed himself by buying me a huge Swiss Melt cookie from The Cookie Jar. The one stipulation was that I was to no longer bring up the story about my birthday cookie around him again. I had an old picture of me and my 10th birthday cookie and decided that I should make a similar shot for the new cookie. Here it is.
